 Brandywine is distinguished from other red caladiums by its burgundy red color. It typically produces large leaves having dark wine red centers. Brandywine does not usually grow very tall, so its large leaves will almost touch the ground. This is a good sun tolerant red as it usually produces very thick leaves and any sunburn that may occur is hard to spot on the dark leaves.
Immature plants or highly fertilized plants will tend to show more green than red. The picture at the left is a good example of this condition.
