Fire Chief, like most reds, is a good hardy sun tolerant variety. This particular variety can have many different looks. It typically starts out mostly green with a sprinkling of red and/or pink splotches. As the plant matures the red and/or pink splotches begin to bleed out giving way to a more solid red and/or pink center color. Fertilizing this variety may increase the green color to the point of a solid green leaf with very few red or pink spots. |
